CHINA AFRICA BUSINESS SUMMIT 2009

More than 1000 leaders from government, the public and private sectors from China and Africa will participate in The 2009 Corporate Africa, China Africa Business Summit, which will be held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, Cape Town, South Africa. This will be the first ever China-Africa Business Summit in Africa.

China over the last decade has become the key development partner to many nations in Africa and is having a visible impact upon economic growth across the continent. African resources play an important role in the global economy, and Chinese trade and businesses will be able to experience at first hand opportunities in Africa. As well as enhancing bilateral trade between Africa and China The Summit will endeavor to bring the successful relationship currently existing between Chinese and African governments down to businesses in Africa in the form of Joint Ventures, Private Public Partnerships, Agencies, Project Finance, Skill and Technology Transfers and major and minor investments including into SMEs.

With Africa possessing abundant natural resources and a major emerging market of the future, the Summit is perfectly timed and a first class opportunity for key stakeholders to participate in defining the future of investment and economic development on the continent.

The Summit kicks off with an Opening Gala Dinner which features a line-up of esteemed business leaders, including an address by President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa and business leaders from both continents.

The Summit will feature six plenary sessions focusing on important issues challenging development in Africa including the continent's participation in the global economy. There will also be 2 Panel Discussions between Chinese business leaders and political and business leaders from Africa looking at the impact of Chinese investment upon development in Africa, China Africa Trade Relations, Capacity for new Chinese investment in specific sectors, Systems to monitor and publish Chinese investments on a national basis which could be used as a guide for other African countries seeking similar input. Delegates will also be able to participate in several of the 15 workshops offered. Workshops include industries, mining, agribusiness, oil & Gas, infrastructure, water, power, road, rails, telecommunication, solar energy, also major service industries, China Africa resource Investment Bank, Finance, City Planning and Development, Leisure and Sports, communication technologies as well as social sector, health and education etc.

As well as sector-specific and plenary sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities at the three day event, another key feature of the Summit will be an exhibition show to promote companies' products, services, and capabilities to potential buyers and customers throughout China and Africa.

The conference and exhibition will become an annual medium exhibiting Chinese investments and technology to the core of trade and enterprise in Africa for the benefit of African governments, businesses and people. The full support of The China Business Council and the governments of Africa and China are behind the event. Africa needs China's skills and expertise just as much as China needs African resources.

Chinese businesses who are already partners in development in Africa and those that are looking for new markets to build capacity, are invited to travel to Cape Town to explore the many opportunities available in Africa,"
